The Platinum IIe, introduced in January 1987, was the final revision of the classic Apple IIe. It swapped the original beige case for a modern platinum-grey enclosure matching the Apple IIGS, added a built-in numeric keypad, and shipped with 128 KB of RAM as standard (via a pre-installed 80-column card). It used the Enhanced IIe's 65C02 processor and motherboard and was praised for its reliability, keeping classrooms running well into the 1990s.
