The Apple IIc, released on April 24, 1984, was Apple's first compact, portable computer. Essentially an Apple IIe in a smaller notebook-sized case with a built-in 5.25-inch floppy drive and a carrying handle, it introduced Hartmut Esslinger's Snow White design language. The 'c' stands for 'compact', and the machine was famously marketed with the slogan 'The most personal computer ever'. Though it lacked an internal display and battery, its plug-and-play simplicity made it a popular home and portable choice.
