The AppleCD SC Plus (model M3021) was Apple's second CD-ROM drive, a 1991 refinement of the original AppleCD SC. It kept the 1x speed and caddy-loading mechanism but added a dust-keeping drive door, a 64 KB buffer and support for discs up to 750 MB, at a price of US$799, some US$400 less than its predecessor. Connected to the Mac or Apple II over SCSI, it also doubled as an audio CD player.
