The Macintosh Classic (October 1990) was Apple's attempt to recapture the low-end market, reviving the classic all-in-one design of the Macintosh Plus at a much lower price. Powered by the same 8 MHz 68000 processor as the 1984 original, it was deliberately unremarkable technically — but at US$999 it finally put a Macintosh within reach of students and home users.
