The very first web server, info.cern.ch, ran on a NeXT computer — the web was born on this platform.
The NeXTstation (1990) was the cheaper, pizza-box successor to Steve Jobs' NeXTcube, and the last computer produced by NeXT before its acquisition by Apple in 1997. Powered by a 25 MHz Motorola 68040 and running the UNIX-based NeXTSTEP operating system, it shipped with the sharp 17-inch MegaPixel display (1120×832). Its combination of powerful hardware and the object-oriented NeXTSTEP environment made it a favourite of developers — Tim Berners-Lee wrote the first web browser and web server on a NeXT machine at CERN in 1990–91. NeXTSTEP's technology would later form the basis of Mac OS X.NeXTstation(1990 年)是 Steve Jobs 的 NeXTcube 之後、價格較低的「披薩盒」式後繼機種,也是 NeXT 在 1997 年被 Apple 收購前所生產的最後一款電腦。
