The iPhone 7 Plus, released on September 16, 2016, introduced the first dual rear camera system in an iPhone: a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens with optical image stabilization paired with a 12-megapixel telephoto lens offering 2× optical zoom, enabling the new Portrait mode. It also removed the 3.5 mm headphone jack — a decision Apple's Phil Schiller defended as requiring 'courage' — steering users toward wireless audio.
