The AppleCD 300 was Apple's double-speed external SCSI CD-ROM drive with caddy loading, introduced in late 1992. It streamed data at up to 300 KB/s in Mode 1 (342 KB/s in Mode 2) with a 256 KB buffer and supported Photo CD, CD-ROM XA, CD+G and CD+MIDI formats, making it a multimedia workhorse for early-1990s Macs.
