iPod touch (1st generation)
Announced on 5 September 2007, the first iPod touch brought the iPhone's multi-touch interface to the iPod line — Wi-Fi, Safari and YouTube, with no phone inside.
It had no speaker at all — every alert and alarm came from a tiny piezoelectric buzzer inside.
Unveiled at Apple's 'The Beat Goes On' media event on 5 September 2007, the first-generation iPod touch carried the same multi-touch interface and iPhone OS software as the iPhone into a device built purely for music, video and the web. With Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Safari and the YouTube app, it brought the iPhone experience to people who did not want a phone contract. It shared the iPhone's 3.5-inch 480×320 display and 128 MB of RAM, but was thinner with an all-metal back. Discontinued in September 2008 when the second generation arrived, it is supported up to iPhone OS 3.1.3.
