The iPad Air 2 was unveiled on October 16, 2014 at Apple's 'It's been way too long' keynote in Cupertino, alongside the iPad mini 3. At just 6.1 mm it was the world's thinnest tablet — and the first iPad with Touch ID and the first offered in gold. Its fully laminated display with an anti-reflective coating improved contrast and cut glare outdoors, and the A8X chip paired with 2 GB of RAM made it the first Apple mobile device with more than 1 GB of memory. Split-screen multitasking arrived with iOS 9 in 2015.
